We often start by looking at ourselves – What do I want?

• What do I want to become?
• What should I do with my life?
• What are my goals, my dreams, my ideas for the future?

This is sin-influenced thinking

From the very beginning, the devil has said:

→ You can decide for yourself what the meaning of life is.

This is how people dominated by sinthink, this is how we all used to think, this is how our flesh thinks again and again.

We would do better to start by looking to God!

(Romans 11:36)36 Everything comes from God, everything lives through God, everything goes to God. To him be the glory forever and ever! Amen.

Everything revolves around God. The highest goal of the universe is to reveal God's glory.

Rick Warren writes: "What is the glory of God? It is who God is. It is the core of His being, the extent of His significance, the radiance of His splendor, the demonstration of His power, the atmosphere of His presence. God's glory is the expression of His goodness and all His eternal attributes."

Everything God has created reflects his glory.

So it is only natural that we reflect his glory.

(2 Corinthians 3:18) But we all, with unveiled faces, behold the glory of the Lord → and are thus transformed into the same image (by beholding, not by effort) from glory to glory (process, upward spiral) as it happens by the Lord, the Spirit. (The Spirit does it, not us.)

This is how we spread His glory

(John 17:4) I have made your glory visible on earth, for I have accomplished the task you gave me.

→ I do what you say → God's glory becomes visible

This is how we fulfill the first commandment
